For those of you who love to entertain, have kids or want a splash of colour in a funky room, Pom poms bring beautiful splashes of colour that appear to float in the air. So simple and cheap to make, They can be used as a permanent decorative piece in any room most suited to kids rooms, However they work so beautifully as center pieces at a dinner party table or wedding.

• Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

• Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

• Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

• Tie a length of fishing line to floral wire for hanging.
